Krav Maga: from self-defense to the battlefield ...
Krav Maga was born out of the necessities of history: in the 1930s, Imi Lichtenfeld, son of a policeman and accomplished sportsman, synthesized the self-defense techniques of judo, wrestling and boxing to form a close combat system formidably efficient and simple.
Krav Maga on thebattlefield.
After the Second World War, regional conflicts favored the emergence of Krav Maga as a full-fledged combat system. The objective: to survive at all costs by practicing unarmed combat against bladed weapons and even firearms.
Close combat and Advanced Krav Maga: a survival school
Close Combat has always existed. Already, the ancient Greek hoplite was equipped with a shortsword for close combat. More recently, hand-to-hand combat was frequent in the trenches of 1914-1918, particularly with bayonets. The close combat was formalized during the Second World War by the English officer W.E. Fairbairn. At the same time, Imi Lichtenfeld developed Krav Maga (literally: contact combat) in a context of permanent war with one goal: survival.
Close Combat and Advanced Krav Maga: natural body movements, simplicity and efficiency.
Close combat and Advanced Krav Maga have the same goal: eliminate the threat as quickly and efficiently as possible. Advanced Krav Maga uses the body's natural movements to ensure rapid learning and maximum efficiency.
Each defense and attack is put to the test of the reality on the ground in order to perfect its effectiveness.
Instinctive movements are encouraged, but as part of training they can be modified to make them more efficient.
